NewsToday an application to develop Anglia Square was approved by Council representatives by a vote of 7 to 5, although Historic England have promised to take this to the supreme court to get the decision overturned. This development is seen by many to be inappropriate for Norwich and although most people believe that the area needs regenerating, this is a step backwards in terms of the style of the development - preferring retail over cultural life and high density high level accommodation. If it goes ahead in current form it stands to turf out more than 80 artists' studios so it is important that the cultural sector campaigns to make sure that there is sufficient cultural provision within the development including creative workspaces at a time when most towns and city centres are looking at moving away from retail-based developments/
